Healthcare:
Engaging humans in health

Scout frequently partner with INDIGO, our sister research agency, which has an exclusive focus on healthcare and sensitive issues.

With decades of experience exploring health-focused research, for public, private and third sector, we have developed a deep understanding of the field.

We have vast experience researching key audiences, from nurses, HCPs, AHPs, public health consultants, comissioners, patients, families and carers.

Thinking carefully about how to engage and get the most out of conversations with both patients, user groups and health-care professionals is key to our success. Indigo has close ties with specialist field agencies for hard to reach and healthcare sectors.

Not only do we provide detailed findings with clear strategic direction, our vast experience means engaging with senior level client audiences are a strength.

Some recent examples

Nutricia & HEF

A series of projects exploring home enteral feeding from the prospective of customers, nurses, dietitians and account holders led to changes in service delivery, new product ideas, more focused comms and a better understanding of market shifts, prescribing issues, and perceptions of competitors.

Practice Pharmacists

Understanding the new breed of clinical pharmacists and their role within Primary Care settings. A role still being established – defining its parameters and levels of patient engagement, but a profession on the rise that will be a key future resource. Our insight recommended the most effective ways to engage this developing audience.

Diabetes UK

Bringing the barriers, benefits and experience of wearable technology among people with Type 1 diabetes, helped establish information needs and support around this topic, as well as revealing the wide variety of accessibility across the country.

How we do it

We choose the methodology that will get the best results. We think about the people taking part: we design approaches and techniques that are supportive of the participants and project objectives.

Individual Depths

The first choice for any health or sensitive issues, this approach ensures a focus on the individual - their personal experiences, challenges, needs and decisions – in a confidential environment. Allows for gathering of specific details, and can be run on or offline.

Focus Groups

Groups, quads and triads encourage lively debate and exploration of themes, concepts and other stimulus material. In our experience HCPs and respond particularly well to discussion with other professionals, sparking of each other and sharing experiences. Same goes for patients and those with health conditions, who relax in the company of others facing similar situations.

Digital Qual

Bespoke qualitative platforms, with specific tasks and scripted questions that can be probed by the moderating team. Provides a confidential channel and an opportunity for more considered response over time. Works well in combination with face-to-face methods, collecting information and establishing issues, allowing more free-flowing conversations in-person.

Pre-session task

In our experience, setting participants a task prior to the sessions are extremely helpful by encouraging health professionals to think about specific cases, to ensure they have the issues and even concrete examples in mind when they come to the session. Also work well for patient and public groups to gather specific information in advance, and focus minds for the session itself.

“Massive THANK YOU as always for the excellent and insightful work. You two are just the best to work with, and I always have 100% confidence in your debriefs and recommendations.”
